I work with many healthcare workers, leaders, managers, physicians and administrators and I find myself saying the same things to help them over and over. Very often, the education and training of these professionals does not include enough information or coursework on understanding themselves, especially the reason why they enter into the fields of helping others. Many don’t feel valued or appreciated and they feel like they are splitting themselves between work and personal obligations. They often feel that there is simply not enough time in their day. Most importantly, these professionals feel unheard and unseen and not connected or appreciated in the workplace. They struggle to be able to feel like they are good managers and administrators and able to lead their teams effectively. Their personal and their professional lives are suffering. They know they could probably benefit from weekly therapy, but there is simply not enough time in the day to add one more thing.
